654. Jesus was / was not perfect.

HEB 7:26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

1PET 1:19, But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
MAR 8:23 And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought. 24 And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.

MAR 10:18, And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

HEB 5:8, Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered; 9 and when he was made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him.



655. Jesus was / was not without sin. [H, 114]

HEB 4:15, For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
2COR 5:21, For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

HEB 1:4, Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

HEB 2:9, But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.


JOH 1:1, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ... 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us,....

JOH 10:30, I and my Father are one.

JOH 14:9-11, Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. LUK 19:10, For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.



659. Jesus is / is not the light of the world. [H, 129]

660. Jesus is blessed / cursed. [H, 115]

661. Jesus is / is not the only immortal. [H, 185]

1TIM 6:14-16, That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. JOH 6:54, Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

ROM 6:23, For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

1COR 15:54, So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

663. Jesus is / is not omniscient. [H, 111]

JOH 16:30, Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God.

664. Jesus is / is not omnipresent. [H, 114]

MAT 18:20, For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

665. Jesus is / is not peaceful. [B, 111; H, 118]

MAT 5:9, Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

JOH 14:27, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

2THE 3:16, Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means.

667. Jesus / Men are the foundation for God's house. [H, 129]

1COR 3:10, According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. 11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
EPH 2:19, Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; 20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; 21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: 22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.



668. Jesus was the high priest / sacrifice. [H, 128]

HEB 8:1, Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;
HEB 9:26, For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.



669. Jesus was a lion / lamb. [H, 127]

REV 5:5, And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.
JOH 1:36, And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!



670. Jesus was a shepherd / sheep. [H, 128]

JOH 10:11, I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

LUK 2:7, And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. ... 52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.
HEB 13:8, Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.



672. Jesus was / was not an ascetic.

MAT 4:1, Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. 2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

MAT 6:19, Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth ... 25, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on.

MAT 8:20, And Jesus saith unto him, ... the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

MAT 10:7, And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. ... 9, Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses, 10,Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.
MAT 9:10, And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meatin the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples. 11, And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners? ... 14, Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not?

MAT 11:18, For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil. 19, The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.



673. Jesus did / did not fear being killed. [B, 36; H, 277]

MAT 12:14-15, Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him. But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence:

JOH 7:1, After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him.

JOH 8:59, Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

JOH 10:39, Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand,

JOH 11:53-54, Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to death. Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews; but went thence unto a country near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim, and there continued with his disciples.
MAT 10:27-28, What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops. And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

LUK 12:4, And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.



674. The Spirit of God is love, joy & peace / vengeance & fury. [B, 128; H, 142]

GAL 5:22, But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
JUDG 15:14, And when he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands. 15 And he found a new jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and took it, and slew a thousand men therewith.

1SAM 18:10, And it came to pass on the morrow, that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house: and David played with his hand, as at other times: and there was a javelin in Saul's hand. 11 And Saul cast the javelin; for he said, I will smite David even to the wall with it. And David avoided out of his presence twice.

675. The Holy Spirit is an intelligence / influence. [H, 139]

JOH 14:26, But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

JOH 16:13, Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

ACT 8:29, Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot. ... 39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.

676. The Holy Spirit is divine / subordinate to God. [H, 141]

ACT 5:3, But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? 4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.
JOH 14:16, And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

JOH 15:26, But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

JOH 16:13, Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.



677. The Holy Spirit was sent by God / Jesus / the apostles.

ACT 5:32, And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.
JOH 20:21-22, Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:
ACT 8:14-17, Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.



678. Man is sanctified through the truth / Holy Spirit. [H, 168]

JOH 17:17, Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
1PET 1:2, Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.



679. The Holy Spirit is yours if you ask / a saved person lays hands on you.

LUK 11:13, If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
ACT 8:17, Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. 18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, 19 Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.

ACT 19:6, And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
