PSA 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

JAM 1:25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
EZE 20:25 Wherefore I gave them also statutes that were not good, and judgments whereby they should not live;

HEB 7:19 For the law made nothing perfect,....



681. God's law will / will not endure forever.

MAT 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

1PET 1:25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
EPH 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

COL 2:13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;



682. It is / is not possible to keep the law.

DEU 30:11, For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off. ... 14 But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.
MAR 10:18, And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

ROM 3:23, For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

ROM 3:19-20, Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. 683. God's law tends toward life / death. [H, 104]

LEV 18:5 Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments: which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am the LORD.

ROM 10:5 For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.
EZE 20:24 Because they had not executed my judgments, but had despised my statutes, and had polluted my sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers' idols. 25 Wherefore I gave them also statutes that were not good, and judgments whereby they should not live;

ROM 7:10 And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.

GAL 3:21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.



684. Those who fail to obey the law are / are not cursed.

DEU 27:26, Cursed be he that confirmeth not all the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen.

JER 11:3, And say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel; Cursed be the man that obeyeth not the words of this covenant,
GAL 3:10-14, For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things who are written in the book of the law to do them. But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them. Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.



685. Those without the law can / cannot sin.

ROM 2:12, All who sin outside the law will also perish without reference to it, and all who sin under the law will be judged in accordance with it. (NAB)
ROM 5:13, For until the law sin was in the world but sin is not imputed when there is no law. (KJV)

ROM 4:15, For the law produces wrath; but where there is no law, neither is there violation. (NAB)



686. Sin is the cause / effect of the law.

GAL 3:19, Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
1JOH 3:4, Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.



687. You can / cannot be justified by keeping God's law.

1JOH 3:10, In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
ROM 3:20, Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

GAL 3:11, But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

2CHR 19:2 And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate the LORD? therefore is wrath upon thee from before the LORD.

696. It is / is not wrong to be able to tell good from evil.

700. Assassination is / is not approved. [H, 255]

2SAM 1:15 And David called one of the young men, and said, Go near, and fall upon him. And he smote him that he died. 16 And David said unto him, Thy blood be upon thy head; for thy mouth hath testified against thee, saying, I have slain the LORD's anointed.



701. Revenge killing is / is not allowed. [H, 256]

NUM 35:19 The revenger of blood himself shall slay the murderer: when he meeteth him, he shall slay him.
ROM 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

GEN 9:5-6, Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.

EXO 21:12, He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death.
GEN 4:15, And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.

703. The penalty for murder may / may not be reduced. [H, 261]

NUM 35:31 Moreover ye shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer, which is guilty of death: but he shall be surely put to death.



704. Adherents of false religions should / should not be killed. [H, 265]

DEU 17:2 If there be found among you, within any of thy gates which the LORD thy God giveth thee, man or woman, that hath wrought wickedness in the sight of the LORD thy God, in transgressing his covenant, 3 And hath gone and served other gods, and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded; ... 7 The hands of the witnesses shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterward the hands of all the people. So thou shalt put the evil away from among you. (KJV)

1KIN 18:40 And Elijah said unto them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there. (KJV)
2TIM 2:24 A slave of the Lord should not quarrel, but should be gentle with everyone, able to teach, tolerant, 25 correcting opponents with kindness. It may be that God will grant them repentance that leads to knowledge of the truth. (NAB)



705. Nonbelievers should be killed / avoided / loved.

DEU 13:6, If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, ... 9 Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him: But thou shalt surely kill him;....
2COR 6:14, Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? ... 17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
GAL 5:14, For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.



706. Suspected witches and wizards are to be put to death / avoided. [H, 307]

EXO 22:18 Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.

LEV 20:27 A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them.
1TIM 4:7 But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.

1TIM 6:20 ... keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:



707. Strangers should / should not be killed. [H, 302, 305]

NUM 1:51, And when the tabernacle setteth forward, the Levites shall take it down: and when the tabernacle is to be pitched, the Levites shall set it up: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.

DEU 7:2, And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them:

709. Homosexuals should be executed / exiled.

LEV 20:13, If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
1KIN 15:11-12, And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, as did David his father. And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.



710. Moabites should be killed / left alone.

JUDG 3:29-30, And they slew of Moab at that time about ten thousand men, all lusty, and all men of valour; and there escaped not a man. So Moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel. And the land had rest fourscore years.

JER 48:2, There shall be no more praise of Moab: in Heshbon they have devised evil against it; come, and let us cut it off from being a nation. Also thou shalt be cut down, O Madmen; the sword shall pursue thee.
DEU 2:9, And the LORD said unto me, Distress not the Moabites, neither contend with them in battle: for I will not give thee of their land for a possession; because I have given Ar unto the children of Lot for a possession.
